WHAT IS SCIATICA?
Sciatica is characterised by pain emanating from the sciatic nerve. The nerves within our body are sensitive therefore any undue stress placed on a nerve can cause pain. Sciatic pain is generally one sided with pain originating from the lower back and travelling down the leg towards the foot. Pain can usually be felt in the buttock too. Often sciatica can be misdiagnosed therefore correct diagnosis is essential. There are a number of different causes of sciatic pain and our job is to diagnose what is the exact cause.
