Back2Front Physiotherapy was founded in 2012 by Chris Watts, our Managing Director, in a small room at a local gym, formerly Breezes Gym but now Dare Fitness. With no patients to our name and a second hand bed provided to him by a former patient, Chris set out on his journey to improve the health and lives of people in Aberdare and the surrounding area.
Fast forward 10 years and the setting could not be more different. We now occupy a fantastic custom designed clinic with 4 specifically designed treatment rooms for Physiotherapy, Massage, Personal Training and Running Analysis alongside an expansive studio space to provide Pilates and Small Group Training.
In 2022, we as a company decided the name Physiotherapy was holding us back from becoming something bigger, something more than just Physiotherapy. Hence we decided to remove the name Physiotherapy and become Back2Front.

Meet The Team
Lead Physiotherapist &
APPI Pilates Instructor
Chris qualified from the University of Southampton in 2010. Since then, he has worked in physiotherapy’s private sector at various locations throughout South Wales.
Chris founded Back2Front Physio in 2012 and has seen it grow from strength to strength. He is an APPI trained Pilates Instructor and has been certified as a Running Technique Coach. He leads the Pilates Classes and Gait Analysis services.
Chris is vastly experienced with treating many sporting athletes including rugby, football, hockey, runners and cyclists, utilising a bio-mechanical approach to improve function, reduce pain and return the patient to pre-injury function.
Kathryn graduated from Cardiff University in 2018. Since then she has worked within the NHS assessing, treating and rehabilitating patients with a variety of problems.
Kathryn has experience treating patients following major operations including joint replacement surgery, abdominal surgery and spinal surgery. She has also treated patients with Parkinson's and other neurological disorders.
Outside of her role as a physiotherapist she coaches and plays netball for Cardiff Harriers Netball club. She enjoys watching most sports, in particular rugby and netball. If she isn't busy with sports, her spare time is spent trying to tire out her 2 year old staffie cross, Arnie.

Lauren is a qualified massage therapist who has recently qualified from Cardiff Metropolitan University in Sports Conditioning, rehabilitation and massage.
Lauren is passionate about offering massage services across a diverse population, with experiences ranging from sporting athletes to individuals experiencing day to day tensions as-well as being a support for those transitioning through their rehabilitation process.
Lauren is a keen hockey player and currently plays for Rhondda Ladies.

For the last 5 years Luke has worked with the National Exercise Referral Scheme where he specialised in working with Osteoarthritis patients, Cardiac Rehab, Stroke rehab and Cancer rehab. Alongside this, Luke has worked with 1:1 athletes to improve their strength and conditioning.
Luke has always been involved in health and fitness in some shape or form and has played rugby across the world since he was 7. Luke has been qualified as a PT for almost 10 years and worked in many different environments.
Luke is looking forward to working with the existing programs at Back2Front Physio and developing the future plans we have already started making.
Our Admin Team
Nia is our Clinic Manager and is responsible for the day to day running of the Clinic.
Nia also takes care of HR and people management, community engagement, our website and event planning.
Lynne joined Back2Front Physiotherapy in 2019 and works part time at the clinic.
Lynne manages our reception desk 4 days a week, booking in patients and dealing with patient enquiries via phone and email.
